EDITORS COMMENTS
This framed photographic print captures a truly remarkable moment as the Angel of the North stands tall near Gateshead during a partial eclipse. The image showcases an ethereal halo surrounding the iconic sculpture, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that is both awe-inspiring and breathtaking. As onlookers gathered on the ground to witness this celestial event, they were treated to a spectacle of nature's grandeur. The partially obscured sun casts a mesmerizing glow upon the Angel, emphasizing its majestic presence against the darkened sky. It is a sight that evokes wonder and reminds us of our place in the universe. However, behind this stunning visual lies a tale of struggle and resilience. Just months before this photograph was taken, Hartlepool Fabrication, the company responsible for building this monumental statue, faced financial difficulties which led to administration. This unfortunate turn threatened numerous job losses within their workforce. Yet amidst these challenges, there remained hope for saving jobs and preserving British manufacturing expertise. Administrators called in by Hartlepool Fabrication worked tirelessly to find potential buyers who could rescue not only jobs but also ensure that this symbol of strength would continue standing proudly alongside the A1 highway. In many ways, this framed photographic print becomes more than just an artistic representation; it serves as a poignant reminder of perseverance in times of adversity. It encapsulates both natural beauty and human determination while honoring those whose livelihoods were at stake during these uncertain times.
